Personal, affordable flight training
We believe in teaching the right way.

Our story
Aerotyne Aviation was founded by Devin Melancon, a Certified Flight Instructor who built the school around one-on-one teaching.
Devin founded Aerotyne to teach the right way — one-on-one, without the cookie-cutter approach of big chain flight schools. No bloated overhead and no assembly-line training: just focused, efficient lessons.
Students train in a Piper Cherokee PA-28-180 equipped with modern avionics, giving them a head start on today’s advanced cockpit technology. Whether you’re just starting out or advancing your skills, the instruction is built to give you real confidence, not just log hours — with lesson plans set to your pace and goals, and flexible scheduling on modern scheduling software.
Based at Louisiana Regional Airport (KREG) near Baton Rouge, Aerotyne supports the next generation of pilots through straightforward instruction, modern tools, transparent pricing with no hidden fees, and training rooted in both safety and professionalism.
Why train here
-
Safety and professionalism
Training rooted in both safety and professionalism, taught by a former U.S. Air Force F-15 crew chief.
-
One-on-one, at your pace
Personalized lesson plans built around your pace and goals — flexible “at your own pace” or accelerated training, scheduled with modern online scheduling software.
-
A real connection with your instructor
You train with the founder, a Commercial Pilot and CFII, from first lesson to checkride — a real connection with your instructor, not just a syllabus.
-
Transparent pricing
$125 an hour for the aircraft, $35 an hour for instruction, no hidden fees. No bloated overhead and no assembly-line training — just focused, efficient lessons.
Every preflight is a crew chief’s preflight.
Devin learned airplanes on the F-15 flight line in the U.S. Air Force before he ever taught in one. That habit of checking every item, every time, is the first thing his students pick up.
