Before your first lesson at KREG
The questions every first-time student asks before they book.
01 Do I need any previous experience to start?
No. Most students start with no experience at all, and a Discovery Flight is designed as your very first lesson. Your instructor builds a lesson plan around your pace and goals from there.
02 What is a Discovery Flight?
A Discovery Flight is your first real flight lesson, for $175. You take the controls of the Piper Cherokee with a Certified Flight Instructor beside you the whole time, and there is nothing to commit to afterwards.
03 Is it safe?
Yes — training at Aerotyne is rooted in both safety and professionalism. The Piper Cherokee has dual controls, so your Certified Flight Instructor can take over at any moment, and every lesson is one-on-one with the same instructor.
04 How much does it cost to earn a Private Pilot License?
An estimated $11,000–$13,000, paid as you fly. Aerotyne charges $125/hr for the aircraft (dry) and $35/hr for instruction, with no hidden fees. Every student progresses at their own pace, so the total is an estimate based on average Part 61 completion times.
05 How do I get started?
